Description of the missing person
Jamal was a devout and focused person who was loved by everyone and who never caused problems. He worked at a grocery store and sold vegetables with his father in the camp. He had five brothers and four daughters. All of Jamal’s siblings and both of his parents were still alive when he disappeared. After his disappearance, most of his siblings emigrated from the country. He didn’t have any specific hobbies, but he was dedicated to all of his pursuits. He aspired to continue with his work, to open his own large store one day, and to start a family.
Circumstances of the Disappearance
Jamal went missing in 1982, when he was seventeen years old. He left his house, which lies on the outskirts of the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps, and headed towards the Kuwaiti embassy. Afterwards, someone mentioned that they saw him held as a prisoner of the Israeli forces in south Lebanon.
