Description of the missing person

Ahmad had 5 brothers and 6 sisters of which he was the 9th, making him the youngest. All of his older siblings had been married so he stayed home with his parents and siblings Jaziba and Nasser. He grew closer to them, especially after his father’s death. He was engaged to his cousin but then they split apart a year before he went missing. Ahmad used to work in the Amine roaster full-time. He studied in school until the 8th grade and he was one of the best students of his class. He was forced to leave school in order to work and help his family. Ahmad was in love with electronics. In his spare time, he used to work with technology. He even fixed our door. We would push a button and the door would open and that was considered as an innovation back then. Ahmad was a generous person. He used to help his family financially and he used to give his sister Jaziba her allowance. After breaking up with his fiancé, he was emotionally tired and he started preparing his immigration papers to Germany. He was hoping to build a future in Germany away from the civil war in Lebanon.

Circumstances of the Disappearance

The situation in Tripoli was quite dangerous so Ahmad went from the city of Akkar where he was spending some time at his sister’s, to Tripoli. He wanted to pick up his mother and younger sister to take them with him to Akkar where the situation was better. He hitchhiked in a pick-up truck with two young men, and once they reached a checkpoint, they asked them to get out of the truck and they weren’t allowed to get back in. Two days later, on the 26th of September 1985, his sister went from Akkar to her family in the Mina area in Tripoli and she was asking about him. His family in Tripoli had thought that he was at his sister’s in Akkar whereas his sister had though that he was in Tripoli with his mother. At that point, Ahmad’s family realized that something was wrong and they started looking for him. After finding the pick-up truck that he took to Tripoli, they asked the soldiers at the checkpoint about Ahmad and they told them that he will be out of investigations in a couple of days. They are still looking for him.
