Description of the missing person

Mohammad, who was thirty‐three years old when he disappeared, was married and had four daughters. He worked as a tiler for a Saudi company. He always loved listening to music and especially enjoyed the singer Abdel Halim Hafez, whose concerts he attended. The thing that he loved most of all was to stay out late in his village, in Beirut, or in Aley to have fun and hunt birds. He dreamed of building a happy life for his family, securing a stable living, and getting his own home.

Circumstances of the Disappearance

At the beginning of the Israeli invasion of southern Lebanon during the month of Ramadan in 1978, Mohammad told his parents that he was coming to Lebanon from Saudi Arabia to check on them and to try to bring them to Saudi Arabia if they wanted to go. He left Saudi Arabia with his friend in a red Chevrolet and disappeared at the Masnaa Border Crossing between Lebanon and Syria. After waiting for ten days, his parents called the Saudi company, which confirmed that Mohammad had left the country. Mohammad’s brother, who traveled to Saudi Arabia and Jordan to follow up on him, reaffirmed this. There are no logs indicating that Mohammad entered Lebanese territory.
