Jamal was still a school student the year he disappeared so he wasn’t married and didn’t have a job. Jamal comes from a big family. Jamal was hoping to get married and on the day of his disappearance, he took 100 liras from his father to go and propose to the girl he loved. Jamal loved his sisters and was very respectful towards them and his family. Even though his parents’ divorce affected him badly, that didn’t change the way he would treat his family. He used to frequently go to the beach with his sister and he was very close to them. Jamal loves people and they love him back. He used to defend the girls being harassed by boys in his neighborhood. Jamal lives a happy life. He used to go to the beach and go fishing in Baalbak.
Circumstances of the Disappearance
On the 14th of June 1982 Jamal was with his friends in the Faculty of Sciences in the Lebanese University in Hadath. In that location and on that day, he went missing along with 15 of his friends. When Jamal didn’t come back home that day, his father first suspected that he was kidnapped by the Israelis. Jamal’s friend informed the father that he saw Jamal being taken to Karantina. Other friends had told the father that they had seen him being taken by a political militia to the Barrack of Werwar. When the father went to Werwar trying to see if his son was there, they wouldn’t let him in. Ever since, Jamal’s father has been going around looking for him and asking for help from different politicians who keep on referring him to someone else.
